LifeNetwork for Catholic Singles
Mission Statement:  The Life Network for Catholic Singles (LINCS) encourages spiritual growth, promotes emotional healing, facilitates community service projects, and provides appropriate group social activities for widowed, divorced and never-married single adults age 35 and older.

 Monthly Meetings:  LINCS presents a general membership meeting each month. The meeting sites are rotated among the participating parishes. Check the Diocesan webpage or the contact numbers below for the current month’s meeting details.

 Community Service Projects:  LINCS sponsors monthly community service projects.  Every other month we go to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and pack boxes of non-perishable food for the needy.  The group also volunteers at St. Vincent’s Thrift Store.

 Social and Recreational Activities:  LINCS hosts a wide variety of social and recreational activities which include concerts, hikes, dancing, mini-gold, live theater and wine tasting, just to name a few.  The group’s most popular event is the International Dinner which features a different ethnic food restaurant experience each month.

 Retreats and Seminars:  LINCS serves as a clearinghouse for information on seminars, retreats, and the activities of other Christian single groups in our area such as the Diocese of Sacramento’s Beginning Experience divorce/bereavement workshops.

 Single Adults in America Today

 ·         100 million single adults live in America today – 50 million of these are over the age of 35.

·         In 1950, singles comprised 20% of all American households. In 2008, that number has grown to almost 50%

·         More than half of all seniors (65+) are single, with 80% of widowed seniors being female.

·         In the Diocese of Reno, there are an estimated 25,000 single adults over the age of 35 who are divorced, widowed, or have never married

 General Information

 ·         LINCS has members from the 30’s to the 80’s+ with the majority in the 45 to 65 range.  80% of dues-paying members are between the ages of 40 and 69.

·         Total number of people presently on our membership/contact list is 175.  We estimate that about 250 different single adults have attended one of our events in the last year.

·         The group is:  Divorced – 52%;  Widowed – 30%; Never-married – 14%

·         Monthly meetings draw as many as 50 participants with groups of 20+ at community service events. Our most popular social event is our monthly International Dinner with 15 to 20 people attending.

·         Interested singles fill our a registration form and are added to our membership list. Dues: $15 for 6 months or $25 for one year includes a calendar of activities sent to the home each month
