Catholic Services Appeal 2012
 Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
At the conclusion of Mass, we are told, “Go in peace”. Nourished by the Eucharist, these words send us forward to carry out the mission Jesus entrusted to us: to proclaim the Gospel—his Good News--to everyone. The theme for this year’s Catholic Services Appeal reminds us of this commission: “Our Mission…Moving Forward”. We have much to do in the name of Jesus Christ and, with each other’s support, we can touch people’s lives with God’s Word, the sacraments and the service of charity.
Your generosity this past year gave us the resources to continue to serve many of our brothers and sisters who are struggling with the effects of the economic downturn. You provided us with the financial support needed to maintain the programs that are essential to our mission, such as the formation of priests, deacons and lay ministers, religious education, ministry to youth and assistance to our rural parishes.
This past year I had the joy of ordaining eight new permanent deacons. I also ordained two of our seminarians as transitional deacons, who will be ordained priests in the near future. These are just two examples of the fruits of your generosity.
I am grateful for your participation in the CSA. When we work together as one family in Christ, we can accomplish far more than we can as individuals. In these challenging times, our unity as a Church is crucial. Together we can move forward and fulfill what Jesus has asked of us.
